How industrial problems expose gaps in fundamental colloid science

  • Event time: 2:00pm
  • Event date: 4th February 2005
  • Speaker: Dr Richard Buscall (ICI Strategic Technology Group Redcar)
  • Location: Room 2511,

Event details

After a brief introduction to ICI and our group I plan to discuss some topics in colloid and polymer science that we would like to see given more attention.

I hope to cover the following topics:

  • Dispersions in purely polymeric media
  • Stabilising particles during particle synthesis
  • Understanding & controlling hydroplasticisation
  • Controlling contact forces
  • Automated and parallel materials evaluation & screening
spending most time on the first, perhaps, and talking around some of issues that arise in the other areas.

About Condensed Matter lunchtime seminars

This is a weekly series of informal talks given primarily by members of the institute of condensed matter and complex systems, but is also open to members of other groups and external visitors. The aim of the series is to promote discussion and learning of various topics at a level suitable to the broad background of the group. Everyone is welcome to attend..
