Statistical Physics and Complexity Group meeting
Solving differential equations with (pseudo-)spectral methods
- Event time: 11:30am
- Event date: 18th December 2013
- Speaker: Professor Alexander Morozov (School of Physics & Astronomy, University of Edinburgh)
- Location: Room 2511, James Clerk Maxwell Building (JCMB) James Clerk Maxwell Building Peter Guthrie Tait Road Edinburgh EH9 3FD GB
Event details
I will give a quick practical introduction to spectral methods and their numerical implementation. I will introduce Chebyshev polynomials and show how to accurately solve linear/nonlinear ODE, eigenvalue problems etc. I will briefly discuss how to solve PDE's using similar ideas.
