The celebrated physicist will join University colleagues for a memorable evening of discussion and debate.

Prof Higgs will be joined by four generations of Edinburgh physicists in setting out the importance of this discovery. The panel will also talk about the inspiration behind the theory and the extraordinary technology and human endeavour that enabled the discovery to be made. The presentation will be followed by a question and answer session between panel and audience.

Among those accompanying Professor Higgs will be Mr Alan Walker, Honorary Fellow and Director of the Particle Physics for Scottish Schools Exhibition; Dr Victoria Martin, Lecturer and Researcher in Particle Physics at the University of Edinburgh; and Francisca Garay Walls, PhD student. Both Dr Martin and Ms Garay Walls work on the ATLAS experiment at CERN.

The event is being filmed and will be made available on YouTube and as an audio podcast.
