Peter Higgs Retirement 1996

Peter Higgs retired in 1996 and was awarded the the status of Professor Emeritus. On his retirement the Particle Physics Theory Group presented him with a unique gift made from a slice of a prototype Large Hadron Collider dipole magnet. This was donated by Lynn Evans, the LHC Project Director. It was mounted on a polished stainless steel support on a mahogany base designed and made by Andrew Downie of the School of Physics and Astronomy mechanical workshop.
