STFC: Where did it all go wrong?

I will discuss both the internal and external problems responsible for the very public difficulties that have affected the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) since its creation in April 2007, and consider some of the ongoing challenges facing the Research Council towards the end of the current Comprehensive Spending Review period and beyond.
