Life in Edinburgh

The city of Edinburgh combines the splendour of a UNESCO World Heritage site with all the benefits of vibrant city living. It is extremely cosmopolitan, with nearly 11,000 international students, and this is reflected in the huge variety of nightclubs, pubs, cafes and restaurants.

The city's cultural life is as rich as its nightlife: from the International and Book festivals to the innovations of the Festival Fringe, the Traverse Theatre and our independent cinemas.

Edinburgh is compact and it's easy to get around on foot or by bike or bus. We have lots of green spaces, including magnificent Salisbury Crags and Arthur's Seat. From the top of this extinct volcano you can see the hills, sea and river that encircle the city.
