Two lectures on the origins of noise in image system. This includes fixed pattern noise from CCD systems, imaging striping and methods for removal. The Guassian noise model is detailed showing the approximations needed to obtain zero meaned additive signal independant Guassian noise. The baics propertis of additive noise and signal to noise ratio are introduced.
