Event details

With Prof Graeme Ackland.

The ongoing coronavirus has brought computer modelling to the forefront of public consciousness. The Royal Society, led by School of Physics and Astronomy's former Professor of Natural Philosophy Prof Mike Cates, set up an initiative where many scientists volunteered to assist with modelling teams and reviewing the tsunami of preprints as they appear. In this talk, Prof Graeme Ackland will explain how epidemic modelling works and how that approach looks  to a physicist. He will also share some insights about how science actually works in a crisis.
