Asymptotic energy dependence of hadronic total cross sections and lattice QCD

  • Event time: 2:00pm
  • Event date: 12th December 2012
  • Speaker: Matteo Giordano (Universidad de Zaragoza)
  • Location: Lecture Theatre A,

Event details

After a brief introduction on the nonperturbative approach to soft high-energy scattering in the framework of QCD, I will discuss how it can be combined with lattice calculations to investigate the asymptotic behaviour of hadronic total cross sections at high energy, and I will show indications for a universal (Froissart-like) log^2 s behaviour.

About Particle Physics Theory seminars

The Particle Physics Theory seminar is a weekly series of talks reflecting the diverse interests of the group. Topics include analytic and numerical calculations based on the Standard Model of elementary particle physics, theories exploring new physics, as well as more formal developments in gauge theories and gravity..
