Event details

Tremendous progress has been achieved in lattice computations of nonperturbative strong-interaction dynamics in the last few years. Amongst contributions from various groups, our Budapest-Marseille-Wuppertal collaboration has shown that it is now possible to perform fully controlled N_f = 2+1 calculations all the way down to the very small physical up and down quark masses.

After reviewing some of the steps taken on the way--most notably our ab initio calculation of light hadron masses--I will describe the setup that has allowed us to reach physical pion masses at three lattice spacings. I will then present our latest results, which include a determination of the up, down and strange quark masses.

About Particle Physics Theory seminars

The Particle Physics Theory seminar is a weekly series of talks reflecting the diverse interests of the group. Topics include analytic and numerical calculations based on the Standard Model of elementary particle physics, theories exploring new physics, as well as more formal developments in gauge theories and gravity..
