Event details

It has long been known that large corrections to cross-sections result from the multiple emission of soft gauge bosons, in either abelian or non-abelian theories. I review the exponentiation of these corrections in the eikonal approximation in which all gauge bosons have zero momentum, before introducing a new technique for describing soft gluon emission using path integral methods. The framework can be easily generalised to beyond the eikonal approximation, and I will use this to classify the structure of matrix element corrections at next-to-eikonal level. The talk is based on arXiv.0811.2067

About Particle Physics Theory seminars

The Particle Physics Theory seminar is a weekly series of talks reflecting the diverse interests of the group. Topics include analytic and numerical calculations based on the Standard Model of elementary particle physics, theories exploring new physics, as well as more formal developments in gauge theories and gravity..
