Event details

There is currently a very active field of research about 'dynamic membranes'. This follows recent discoveries from cell biology that led to new concepts on the regulation mechanisms in cellular traffic (how the cell receives and emits signals). In this respect, the cell membrane is not viewed any more as a simple container but is believed to play a major and dynamic role in information 'transport'. In this talk, I will review these concepts and describe how (some) physicists believe they can explain them.

About Condensed Matter lunchtime seminars

This is a weekly series of informal talks given primarily by members of the institute of condensed matter and complex systems, but is also open to members of other groups and external visitors. The aim of the series is to promote discussion and learning of various topics at a level suitable to the broad background of the group. Everyone is welcome to attend..
