Event details

I have investigated the onset of aggregation and the sol-gel transition in concentrated colloidal suspensions by using Diffusing-Wave Spectroscopy. By treating the light propagation as a diffusion process, this technique extends the traditional light scattering to the strongly scattering regime. In particular, in order to overcome the problem of non-ergodicity of solid-like systems, I have developed a new technique based on a "sandwich" of two scattering cells. At the moment, I am studying some biological systems, such as protein solutions and cartilage's cells.

About Condensed Matter lunchtime seminars

This is a weekly series of informal talks given primarily by members of the institute of condensed matter and complex systems, but is also open to members of other groups and external visitors. The aim of the series is to promote discussion and learning of various topics at a level suitable to the broad background of the group. Everyone is welcome to attend..
