Physics of the Knee

Condensed Matter lunchtime seminar

Physics of the Knee

Event details

The knee is a crucial element in the locomotion of humans (and other animals). In this seminar, I will describe briefly the anatomy of the human knee, and introduce some of the physics issues involved in understanding its various components, before focussing on intriguing data collected recently in COSMIC in collaboration with Dr. Jane Sadler (UoE, Pathology) on the response of chondrocytes (cells embeded in the cartilage) to oscillatory shear.

About Condensed Matter lunchtime seminars

This is a weekly series of informal talks given primarily by members of the institute of condensed matter and complex systems, but is also open to members of other groups and external visitors. The aim of the series is to promote discussion and learning of various topics at a level suitable to the broad background of the group. Everyone is welcome to attend..
