Event details

Confocal microscopy is arguably the most important development in light microscopy in recent decades. It is a powerful method for examining 3D specimens in their natural state, producing high resolution optical sections and 3D reconstructions. In this talk I will outline the main principles of confocal microscopy, how they are implemented in a confocal laser scanning microscope and some of the diverse applications of this technique.

About Condensed Matter lunchtime seminars

This is a weekly series of informal talks given primarily by members of the institute of condensed matter and complex systems, but is also open to members of other groups and external visitors. The aim of the series is to promote discussion and learning of various topics at a level suitable to the broad background of the group. Everyone is welcome to attend..
