Event details

Charged-surface dielectric molecule interactions seem widely ignored in complex fluids theory. We have built a model that accounts for energy differences due to mobile low permittivity molecules between charged plates. Its solution allows to find the interaction between the plates. For polymer shaped molecules the system is a good approximation of a charged lamellar phase mixed with polymer, and phase diagrams can be predicted. No exciting results are available yet, but some preliminary ones will be presented and hands waved appropriately.

About Condensed Matter lunchtime seminars

This is a weekly series of informal talks given primarily by members of the institute of condensed matter and complex systems, but is also open to members of other groups and external visitors. The aim of the series is to promote discussion and learning of various topics at a level suitable to the broad background of the group. Everyone is welcome to attend..
