Event details

There are currently different predictions for the phase diagram of polydisperse hard spheres [1,2]. Fractionation is an important issue in these systems. I will first review equilibrium predictions of phase behaviours. Then I will present some experimental data on hard sphere colloids and colloid-polymer mixtures. However, the kinetics of different processes involved make comparing experiments and theory difficult. The results of these studies could be applied to produced highly monodisperse colloids. About Condensed Matter lunchtime seminars

This is a weekly series of informal talks given primarily by members of the institute of condensed matter and complex systems, but is also open to members of other groups and external visitors. The aim of the series is to promote discussion and learning of various topics at a level suitable to the broad background of the group. Everyone is welcome to attend..
