Event details

I will describe computer simulations of nucleation in a 2-dimensional Ising model under an applied shear. I'll discuss how we can obtain the nucleation rate, transition paths and phase space density using forward flux sampling. The nucleation rate shows an interesting dependence on the shear rate and I'll describe some preliminary attempts to understand this by analysing the transition paths.

About Condensed Matter lunchtime seminars

This is a weekly series of informal talks given primarily by members of the institute of condensed matter and complex systems, but is also open to members of other groups and external visitors. The aim of the series is to promote discussion and learning of various topics at a level suitable to the broad background of the group. Everyone is welcome to attend..
