Event details

I will describe how the mode-coupling theory of glasses can be used to derive constitutive models for dense colloidal suspensions under arbitrary time dependent flow, and then present a recently derived schematic model that captures the structure of this rather elaborate theory in a simplified way. The schematic model can address flows other than simple shear, and predicts for example a nontrivial (dynamic) yield stress manifold for flows of different geometries.

About Condensed Matter lunchtime seminars

This is a weekly series of informal talks given primarily by members of the institute of condensed matter and complex systems, but is also open to members of other groups and external visitors. The aim of the series is to promote discussion and learning of various topics at a level suitable to the broad background of the group. Everyone is welcome to attend..
