Event details

In this seminar, I will present the results we have obtained regarding the thermodynamic behaviour of low valence (3,4,5) patchy particles with varying the radial interaction range in the single bond per patch regime. The complete phase diagrams of valences 4 and 5 will be presented, toghether with preliminary results on valence 3. Our results regarding the liquid stability will be compared with the those of the isotropic case, giving a possible explanation of the difficulty in crystallizing these particles. Furthermore, the hypothesis of Charbonneau and Frenkel about a critical valence below which the liquid retains its thermodynamic stability will be compared with our results.

About Condensed Matter lunchtime seminars

This is a weekly series of informal talks given primarily by members of the institute of condensed matter and complex systems, but is also open to members of other groups and external visitors. The aim of the series is to promote discussion and learning of various topics at a level suitable to the broad background of the group. Everyone is welcome to attend..
