Here's an interesting collaboration between generatingfunctionologist Herbert S Wilf and renowned theoretical population geneticist Warren J Ewens, They show that since evolution happens in parallel rather than in series, the argument that the universe is too young for something as complex as a human being to have appeared by chance alone is bogus.
