Statics and dynamics of Exclusion Processes (II)

Event details

In this talk I will work out the dynamical mean field theory for the open boundary ASEP, which is essentially the Burgers' equation with prescribed boundary conditions. I'll show that in addition to the static phase boundaries, additional dynamical transition lines appear. In order to understand these new transitions we go back to the inviscid Burgers equation and discuss kinematic waves, shock formation and rarefaction fans. We can then consider adding fluctuations to a description of the system in terms of shocks to produce a domain wall theory which gives an accurate description of the system in the regime $\alpha<1/2$, $\beta <1/2$.
