"Non-integer Replicas" and the random energy model (REM)
Statistical Physics and Complexity Group meeting
"Non-integer Replicas" and the random energy model (REM)
- Event time: 11:30am
- Event date: 22nd October 2014
- Speaker: Dr Peter Mottishaw (School of Physics & Astronomy, University of Edinburgh)
- Location: Room 2511, James Clerk Maxwell Building (JCMB) James Clerk Maxwell Building Peter Guthrie Tait Road Edinburgh EH9 3FD GB
Event details
I will give the derivation of the finite size corrections to the random energy model using the "non-integer" replica approach. It gives some nice examples of how to use the steepest descents approach to statistical mechanics problems. This will give the details behind the results discussed in the Monday seminar for those who are interested. I will start with the definition of the REM so there should be no problem if you missed the Monday seminar.
