Event details

It is often the case, both in science and the real world, that we wish to recover information about a system in a somewhat "indirect" manner (for example, when we use x-rays or acoustics to examine the innards of objects). This information recovery typically takes the form of solving an Inverse Problem. In this talk, I will attempt to define what an Inverse Problem is, why they can be tricky to solve (or, more appropriately, "solve"), and discuss some common methods to circumvent these difficulties.
