Event details
The talk will give an introduction into the LHCb experiment, its current status and prospects. I will focus more deeply on the Ring Imaging Cherenkov counters (RICH) which realise a very wide range of charged particle indentification by employing a unique design. This system is essential for the success of the LHCb experiment. I will then present the Hybrid Photon Detector technology which was developed for the specific requirements of the LHCb RICH detectors. These are the "eyes of our experiment" which are currently tested in our laboratory. I plan to explain how we access the parameters to judge how these detectors work internally and will show results of the qualification of the first hundred HPD.
