Vertex detectors and the linear collider
Experimental Particle Physics seminar
Vertex detectors and the linear collider
- Event time: 2:00pm until 3:00pm
- Event date: 8th December 2005
- Speaker: Chris Damerell (Rutherford Appleton Laboratory)
- Location: Room 6206, James Clerk Maxwell Building (JCMB) James Clerk Maxwell Building Peter Guthrie Tait Road Edinburgh EH9 3FD GB
Event details
There are now 26 groups round the world investigating 11 different silicon pixel technologies for vertex detectors at the International Linear Collider (ILC). In this talk, we consider the physics incentives for detectors with unprecedented performance. We then review briefly the experience from SLC, and discuss the main challenges to be overcome, in developing a detector of approximately 10^9 pixels able to do the job.
