Event details

The Standard Model Higgs mechanism, which successfully explains the electroweak symmetry breaking, comes with some theoretical challenges. One of the most important ones is the quadratic sensitivity of the squared Higgs boson mass to the scale of new physics, which suggests that the Higgs boson mass should ‘naturally’ be higher than the observed 126GeV.
One of the possible solutions to this naturalness problem is to treat the Higgs boson as a pseudo-Goldstone boson associated with spontaneous breaking of some flavour symmetry group.

I will present the minimal strongly-interacting UV-complete theory which can produce a Goldstone boson Higgs, namely SU(2) with 2 flavours of (techni)quarks in the fundamental representation.
I will discuss the hadron spectrum of this theory obtained through first principle lattice simulation.
I will also describe the phenomenological impact of this model by considering the resonance spectrum in vector boson scattering.
