Recent results and prospects from the NA62 experiment at CERN

  • Event time: 2:00pm
  • Event date: 25th October 2017
  • Speaker: Cristina Lazzeroni (Birmingham University)
  • Location: Higgs Centre Seminar Room, Room 4305,

Event details

$K \to \pi \nu\nu$ is one of the theoretically cleanest meson decay where to look for indirect effects of new physics complementary to LHC searches. The NA62 experiment at CERN SPS is designed to measure the branching ratio of the $K^+\to \pi^+\nu\nu$ decay with 10% precision. NA62 took data in 2015 and 2016 reaching the Standard Model sensitivity. Recent results and prospects will be presented. Besides, recently produced upper limits on the rate of the charged kaon decay into a lepton and a heavy neutral lepton (HNL) will also be shown.

About Particle Physics Theory seminars

The Particle Physics Theory seminar is a weekly series of talks reflecting the diverse interests of the group. Topics include analytic and numerical calculations based on the Standard Model of elementary particle physics, theories exploring new physics, as well as more formal developments in gauge theories and gravity..
