An introduction to (multiple) polylogarithms and their symbology
- Event time: 2:00pm
- Event date: 9th April 2014
- Speaker: Herbert Gangl (Durham)
- Location: Higgs Centre Seminar Room, James Clerk Maxwell Building (JCMB) James Clerk Maxwell Building Peter Guthrie Tait Road Edinburgh EH9 3FD GB
The goal of this talk is to introduce, in an elementary way, multiple polylogarithms, to give a number of their basic properties and to explain how to arrive at their associated so-called "symbols" using combinatorial notions like trees and polygons. Time permitting, we will also try to give a glimpse of how it can been profitably used for number theorists.
The Particle Physics Theory seminar is a weekly series of talks reflecting the diverse interests of the group. Topics include analytic and numerical calculations based on the Standard Model of elementary particle physics, theories exploring new physics, as well as more formal developments in gauge theories and gravity..
