Event details
Axions were born of attempts to explain why the strong interactions apparently conserve the CP symmetry, but turn out also to be a promising dark matter candidate. Interest in axions in the UK has ramped up in the last few years, and the UK also possesses impressive capabilities in the fabrication of ultra low noise electronics that are necessary for their detection. I will present the recent activities of a nascent collaboration in this area, which aims to deliver a new axion search target as part of the U.S. based ADMX experiment, as well as to move towards a U.K. facility for further axion searches.
