Conor Fitzpatrick

I liked it so much that I decided to continue my studies and undertake a PhD degree.

I'm Conor Fitzpatrick, I took my undergraduate at Edinburgh in Physics, with an MPhys project consisting of a simulated analysis of CP violation in B decays at the LHCb experiment on the LHC at CERN. I liked it so much that I am now a Postgraduate student in Edinburgh's Particle Physics (Experiments) Group, no longer looking at simulated analysis, but at real data coming from our now-running experiment! My UG project was absolutely vital for me to continue in this role, teaching me not only the specifics of the experiment on which I worked but also giving me a much greater understanding of how to collaborate with and present results to an international audience of my peers. The work I do now is almost identical to that of my MPhys, which gave me a significant start to my postgraduate research.
