Event details

The phase behaviour of core-softened systems has recently been the subject of a great deal of research interest, particularly with respect to the possibility of liquid-liquid phase separation. This talk will report the results of Monte Carlo simulations to find the phase diagram for such a system in two dimensions. These results suggest that previous evidence for a liquid-liquid critical point in this system may actually be due to a quasi-continuous melting transition. About Condensed Matter lunchtime seminars

This is a weekly series of informal talks given primarily by members of the institute of condensed matter and complex systems, but is also open to members of other groups and external visitors. The aim of the series is to promote discussion and learning of various topics at a level suitable to the broad background of the group. Everyone is welcome to attend..
