Degree overview

Our Physics with a Year Abroad programme combines the opportunity to undertake an innovative research project at a partner institution overseas along with course content covering all aspects of Physics from the very basics to the current frontiers of knowledge.

Physics is the study of the fundamental processes of our Universe, and its laws underpin the other natural sciences. Advances in Physics often affect other disciplines, leading to new technologies or new methods such as innovative ways to fight disease.

Our highly flexible Physics programme reflects this central role. The course content is broad, covering all aspects of Physics from the very basics to the current frontiers of knowledge. Recent year abroad destinations included The University of Melbourne and The University of Sydney in Australia, and TRIUMF - Canada’s national laboratory for particle and nuclear physics. We have plans to extent this list to include further destinations in the future.

Throughout the degree, the emphasis on analysis, problem solving and practical work will give you skills suitable for a wide range of careers, in experimental Physics research, industry, finance and the public sector.
