Abstract

The coupling between elastic and breakup channels is essential for analysing the structure and reactions of halo nuclei, which are characterized by low separation energies. We presented a two-cluster approach to investigate the structural properties of halo nuclei [1]. By solving the Schrödinger equation for the internal motion of the exotic projectile, we derived new expressions for the Coulomb dynamical polarization potential (CDPP) and electric dipole polarizability [2]. This CDPP can be employed to simultaneously analyse the elastic scattering and Coulomb breakup cross sections at low energies [3,4]. Moreover, it has been successfully applied to calculate Coulomb dissociation cross sections at high energies, accounting for continuum excitations [5].
