Tau physics from the B Factories
Experimental Particle Physics seminar
Tau physics from the B Factories
- Event time: 2:00pm until 3:00pm
- Event date: 4th May 2006
- Speaker: George Lafferty (University of Manchester)
- Location: Room 6206, James Clerk Maxwell Building (JCMB) James Clerk Maxwell Building Peter Guthrie Tait Road Edinburgh EH9 3FD GB
Event details
The SLAC and KEK B factories are also tau factories, which have to
date produced almost one billion tau+tau- pairs. I will discuss some
of the physics analyses that are being done with these samples, with a
selection from: searches for lepton-flavour violation; studies of the
hadronic weak current; searches for second-class currents; studies of
the spectroscopy of light-quark mesons; measuring the photon hadronic
vacuum-polarisation contribution to the muon g-2; measurements of the
CKM matrix element V_us; and measuring the mass of the strange quark.
