Event details
I will give an overview of our current picture of two ubiquitous and compelling phenomena in high-energy physics - jets and strings. By their nature, these are not immediately evident from the Lagrangian densities or Feynman Rules of the Standard Model of Particle Physics. I will review the current state of the art of detailed numerical models of these processes, embodied by Monte Carlo event generators, and touch on why I believe we are on the cusp of at least two exciting revolutions in this field. I expect these to lead to profound new insights that will span all-orders aspects of quantum field theories as well as non-perturbative dynamics. Some of these will have crucial applications also in experimental contexts.
