Event details
Computing in an academic environment can be challenging, especially in a compute-heavy field like High Energy Physics (HEP), where the demands are even more intensive. In this presentation, I'll explore the current state of computing within the Physics department and the wider University of Edinburgh.
As part of this I'll cover recent updates and changes that you need to know about, as well as practical information on accessing our local PPE storage and compute nodes. I will also discuss the changing landscape of distributed computing in HEP&Astro and would like to get feedback from the group about how we might make best use of such new and changing technologies.
Additionally, I’ll provide a brief overview of some of the generative AI tools available to us today, and what’s coming in the next few months.
