Event details
A precise determination of the CKM unitarity triangle angle γ is crucial for testing the Standard Model's predictions of CP violation in quark interactions. In July 2024, the LHCb collaboration reported a determination of γ from a combined analysis with a total uncertainty of less than 3 degrees. This milestone was achieved by analyzing over 198 observables from 9 fb⁻¹ of LHCb data collected during Run 1 and Run 2 of the LHC and 2.93 fb⁻¹ of e⁺e⁻ collision data near the ψ(3770) resonance from the BESIII experiment. Key LHCb and BESIII measurements, the interplay between the two experiments, and notable outcomes from the global analysis will be presented. Additionally, future prospects for γ measurements will be discussed.
