- Event date: 10th October 2025
- Speaker: Dr. Sam Woodford (School of Physics & Astronomy, University of Edinburgh)
- Location: Higgs Centre Seminar Room, Room 4305, James Clerk Maxwell Building (JCMB) (James Clerk Maxwell Building (JCMB)) James Clerk Maxwell Building Peter Guthrie Tait Road Edinburgh EH9 3FD GB
Event details
The XLZD underground rare event observatory, based on liquid xenon technology, will address some of the most important open questions in fundamental physics and cosmology. This talk will outline the key physics channels a next generation detector will allow us to probe, while also investigating the possibility of hosting the observatory at Boulby Underground Laboratory in the UK. Preliminary studies undertaken by the Edinburgh group, including projected sensitivities and simulations of the veto systems, will also be presented.
