Physics and astronomy ranking results

The latest university rankings have confirmed The University of Edinburgh as a leading institute for studying Physics and Astronomy.

The recent announcement from The Good University Guide 2021 produced by The Times and the Sunday Times ranks Physics and Astronomy at the University of Edinburgh as 9th in the UK, which is up 14 places from the previous year.  

The Academic Ranking of World Universities (Shanghai Jiao Tong University Ranking) lists Physics at the University of Edinburgh as first in the UK, and 11th in the world.

In addition, the University of Edinburgh is consistently rankedone of the best 50 universities in the world, and is 20th in the most recent QS World University Rankings.

The national and regional world University rankings evaluate an institution’s performance over a number of areas, including teaching, research, knowledge transfer, international outlook, student experience, degree completion rates and graduate employment prospects.
