Scholarships & funding

Higgs Scholarships

Six Higgs Scholarships are available to students on the MSc in Particle & Nuclear Physics, MSc in Theoretical Physics and MSc in Mathematical Physics. Each scholarship has a value of £10,000. The value of the award will be deducted from tuition fees.

The scholarships will be awarded on the basis of academic merit to students of any nationality. Candidates must have, or expect to obtain, a UK first-class honours degree or its international equivalent.

The application process for Higgs Scholarships for academic year 2022/23  is now closed.

The scholarship deadline is 23:59 BST 1st June 2022.

GREAT Scholarships

The GREAT Scholarships programme offers financial support of £10,000 to students pursuing one year postgraduate study in the UK. Nationals of selected countries will be eligible for the following programmes : MSc Theoretical Physics, MSc Particle and Nuclear Physics.

University of Edinburgh Graduate Discount Schemes

The MSc programmes are included in the University’s two tuition fee discount schemes.  The University offers a 10% discount in postgraduate tuition fees for all alumni who have graduated with an undergraduate degree from the University of Edinburgh (conditions apply) or for students who have previously matriculated on a "Visiting Programme" as a non-graduating undergraduate student and completed a minimum of one semester of study at the University of Edinburgh (conditions apply).
