I honestly really enjoyed my time in the School of Physics and Astronomy! The support and academic staff were great.
I studied an MPhys in Physics at the University of Edinburgh, having grown up in Aberdeen and always being drawn to the city and the University through Open Days and visits. When I applied, I already knew I wanted to teach, and throughout my degree I developed both my passion for physics and my interest in working with young people. Alongside my studies, I volunteered at international summer camps in Edinburgh and delivered maths and science activities at the Children’s Hospital, working with children aged 8–16. I was also involved with the UK National Student Space Society, helping to organise and host their annual conference at Edinburgh and later becoming its secretary. These experiences led me to present at international space education conferences and contributed to my role in the Education Office at the European Space Agency in 2020. I later worked as a Data Analyst for the NHS and am now completing a PGDE in Physics. My time in the School of Physics and Astronomy was extremely positive, with strong academic support and a close-knit cohort that made my direct entry into second year a great decision.
