Event details

Over the years polymer mixtures have become more and more a part of everyday life. To guide experimentalists in creating new materials an understanding of both the equilibrium properties and the dynamics in these mixtures is necessary. Self consistent field theory (SCFT) has proven to describe equilibrium properties in polymer mixtures quantitatively well. In my talk I will show how SCFT can be extended to describe the dynamics of such systems. This dynamic self consistent field theory is used to analyse early spinodal decomposition focussing on the influence of the extension of single polymer chains on the collective dynamics.

About Condensed Matter lunchtime seminars

This is a weekly series of informal talks given primarily by members of the institute of condensed matter and complex systems, but is also open to members of other groups and external visitors. The aim of the series is to promote discussion and learning of various topics at a level suitable to the broad background of the group. Everyone is welcome to attend..
