Event details
In my talk I will summarise my work, that I am soon going to submit as a PhD thesis. This work includes high-pressure studies on crystal structure of elements Bi, Sb, As and Ga. I will report on complex and surprising structures we have found in these elements, and also review the related structures recently found in alkali and alkali-earth elements. The present theoretical picture of the formation and stability of these crystal structures will be discussed.
About Condensed Matter lunchtime seminars
This is a weekly series of informal talks given primarily by members of the institute of condensed matter and complex systems, but is also open to members of other groups and external visitors. The aim of the series is to promote discussion and learning of various topics at a level suitable to the broad background of the group. Everyone is welcome to attend..
