Event details

It is often observed that populations of bacteria which are genetically identical and live in the same environment are strongly heterogeneous. One way to achieve such heterogeneity is to switch between different gene expressions. I will present a minimal model where this switching is self regulated through a feedback mechanism. In the first lecture I will show how to obtain an analytical solution of the model in the steady state. In the second lecture I will address some questions related to the statistics of the time intervals between flips.
