The long-term fate of the attractive colloidal glass

Event details

I will present new simulation results to show that so-called attractive glasses in dense colloids are, ultimately, caged by topology, so that they are 'bonded repulsive glasses'. We have also discovered a new state, 'densed gels', that previously has been thought to be identical to attractive glasses. These results together prompts a new 'state diagram' for dense attractive colloid systems.

About Condensed Matter lunchtime seminars

This is a weekly series of informal talks given primarily by members of the institute of condensed matter and complex systems, but is also open to members of other groups and external visitors. The aim of the series is to promote discussion and learning of various topics at a level suitable to the broad background of the group. Everyone is welcome to attend..
