Statistical Physics and Complexity Group meeting
Non-linear Fisher travelling waves : an overview
- Event time: 2:00pm
- Event date: 3rd July 2009
- Speaker: Damien Simon (University of Edinburgh)
- Location: Room 4309, James Clerk Maxwell Building (JCMB) James Clerk Maxwell Building Peter Guthrie Tait Road Edinburgh EH9 3FD GB
Event details
I will present different problems in which the non-linear Fisher travelling waves appear (branching random walks, epidemics, reaction-diffusion problems) and discuss through them the general properties of these waves, as for example the effect of initial conditions on the velocity. In a second part, I will how finite-size effects or a stochastic noise modify this velocity.
