Event details
In this theory club we will define and motivate the asymmetric exclusion process which is a stochastic model of particles moving through a lattice with repulsive interactions. In particular, I shall consider the case of open boundaries where a current of particles flows through the system thus giving rise to a nonequilibrium stationary state. I shall show how to derive the hierarchy of correlation functions. Then I shall develop a simple mean field theory which gives an interesting phase diagram.
