Parton distributions with LHC data
- Event time: 1:00pm
- Event date: 26th November 2012
- Speaker: Nathan Hartland (University of Edinburgh)
- Location: Lecture Theatre A, James Clerk Maxwell Building (JCMB) James Clerk Maxwell Building Peter Guthrie Tait Road Edinburgh EH9 3FD GB
Event details
An accurate and reliable determination of the parton distribution functions of the proton is vital to fully exploit the potential of the LHC. However the LHC itself also has the potential to provide substantial constraints upon existing PDF determinations. We shall discuss the tools available to study the impact of LHC measurements upon PDFs and discuss a new NNPDF release including LHC electroweak vector boson production, and inclusive jet data: the NNPDF2.3 PDF Set.
About Particle Physics Theory seminars
The Particle Physics Theory seminar is a weekly series of talks reflecting the diverse interests of the group. Topics include analytic and numerical calculations based on the Standard Model of elementary particle physics, theories exploring new physics, as well as more formal developments in gauge theories and gravity..
