An Introduction to Large Deviation Functions
- Event time: 11:30am
- Event date: 9th October 2013
- Speaker: Justin Whitehouse (Formerly School of Physics & Astronomy, University of Edinburgh)

Event details
Large Deviation Functions have cropped up in lots of Statistical Physics talks that I have been to, but I have never from any of these been able to figure out what the hell is going on. In this talk presentation I hope to give a very easy and accessible introduction to:
the motivation behind large deviation functions 2. the definition of the large deviation function 3. the derivation of the relationship between the LDF and the cumulant generating function
